The Association for Women in Communication

Annual Speed Pitch Event

Join us in our second annual Speed Pitch Event! This event was founded with the goal to help students in developing their elevator pitch, and to learn how to advocate and communicate with confidence to professionals. Students who attend can choose to participate in up to three sessions of thirty minute durations, and will meet one-on-one with multiple professionals for the opportunity to tell professionals their elevator pitch (and show their resume, if they so wish). After giving their pitch, they will receive feedback from their professional mentor on both the strengths, and the aspects to be improved upon.

Students will then move to a new station and repeat the process with a new professional mentor, this time with the opportunity to incorporate the new feedback into the pitch. The process will then repeat until the session comes to a close.

This event is open to anyone who wishes to come, no matter of major, background, or gender. While students are encouraged to come with a pitch prepare, students of all levels of preparedness are welcome to participate -- the event is for the purpose of helping student to better their ability to advocate for themselves and speak with professionals.
